Sylwia Słomiak has over 15 years of experience in international cooperation on climate change and energy transformation. She has worked with local governments, non-governmental organizations, and the public sector, including for the administrations of Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Australia within international programs. She works closely with international city networks, especially Eurocities, NGOs, and local authorities across Europe, focusing on enhancing the competences of local governments and promoting financing models for local climate actions other than grants. Since 2020, she has also represented the European Urban Instrument in Poland. Previously, within the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Program, she supervised a portfolio of projects in the Environment and Infrastructure thematic area worth 145 million euros. The projects covered over 70,000 households in about 350 municipalities, focusing on installing solar systems, improving access to public transport, and eliminating hazardous waste to reduce socio-economic disparities.
She is also an advisor to the Board of the Vistula River Basin Municipality Association, a member of the Polish Evaluation Society, and a former member of the Global Shapers program of the World Economic Forum.
